kickboxing

hello, we are the essex blades kickboxing club

Kickboxing is a combat sport combining western boxing with techniques from Asian martial arts. As a result, apart from punching it involves various kicking techniques as well as the use of knee strikes.  Training includes work on technique, physical conditioning, and sparring (optional). We strongly encourage new members to join Kickboxing since we offer training that allows newcomers to gain fighting experience quickly. If you want to try something new, want to get fitter, stronger, faster and more flexible or want to compete, the Kickboxing Club is where to go.

How many teams do we have?

Kickboxing is an individual sport but members have the opportunity to compete throughout the year in various competitions.

Recent honours?

Tahmid Chowdhury - Semi Finalist (Advanced Heavyweight) - University Kickboxing Championships 2019
Adam Wright - Semi Finalist (Intermediate Middleweight) - University Kickboxing Championships 2019

Do I need anything else before I get involved?

The club provides most of the necessary equipment, but members are advised to have their own. The club’s equipment consists of items such as Boxing and Kick-Boxing gloves, Shin guards, Kick shields, Thai pads, Focus pads, Skipping ropes, Free and standing bags and Timers. Members need to get their own mouthguard and handwraps.

Join us*

To be a part of the club, you need to join up as a member. All of the different club membership options are listed below with a description of what each membership covers.

* Please note that your membership information will be used in conjunction with Essex Sport (University), purely for the purpose of providing access to required facilities and data analysis. Your data will not be shared with anyone else or used for marketing purposes.

* Please note that due to COVID-19 we are identifying what activities are able to be played in line with UK Government and National Governing Bodies for sport guidelines.  Due to this, we have suspended playing memberships until we have a clearer picture of training and competition opportunities for 2020/21.

Please note, as memberships have to be uploaded to the Essex Sport system manually, it may take 3-5 working days before you are able to book onto your session via the Essex Sport app and attend training sessions. Should you have any problems, please email scadmin@essex.ac.uk
