This month has been full and productive, with a short period of time spent away before returning to campus and continuing work as usual. I was away for some days but remained fully engaged by working remotely, ensuring that key responsibilities were still met. During this time, I chaired the Finance Committee and continued contributing to ongoing work, including planning for SHAG Week alongside SU Engagement and SU Advice. I also attended meetings focused on food affordability with Alex and took part in important discussions around strike policies to better understand their impact on students. Alongside this, I completed fire marshal training and SU media training, both of which have been useful in strengthening my ability to support students and represent them effectively.

Since returning, I’ve focused on staying connected with students, societies, and student leaders across campus. I’ve been supporting societies by helping them promote their events and ensuring they feel encouraged and visible within the wider student community. I’ve to keep regular catch-ups with Student Community Officers to check in on their wellbeing, understand any challenges they’re facing, and offer support where needed. In addition, I attended a student leader drop-in to gather feedback directly from students, met with SWIS to discuss Report and Support processes, and worked with the Commercial and HR teams to help introduce new and improved student and staff perks. Overall, it’s been a constructive month with steady progress across several priorities, and I’m looking forward to continuing this work and delivering positive outcomes for students.
