You'll receive notification of an Academic Offence if the university thinks you have done one of the following things:

  • Plagiarism
  • Collusion
  • False authorship
  • Ethical issues

Academic Offences are serious, and can lead to:

  • Dismissal
  • Formal warning
  • Resubmission
  • Zero mark for the assignment
  • Zero mark for the module
  • Withdrawal from university

Far more students are asked to attend these meetings on Academic Offences than you may realise, and often they provide an opportunity to learn and improve.
