Applause filled the The Atrium when VTeam and several VTeam regular projects were awarded the university’s Platinum Sustainable Essex Award, the highest achievement possible in the Sustainability Team’s accreditation programme.
VTeam as an organisation received a Platinum Award in recognition of one-off projects such as Wildlife Conservation Day, and three individual regular projects each received a Platinum Award. This is the first time VTeam have received these awards, and they are really stacking up the accolades; just three years ago, VTeam was granted the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Talk about taking the crown!
Green Thumbs, Repair Café, and Clothes Exchange, the individual projects that received the award, are powered by amazing students, from project leaders who run the sessions, to the volunteers who make time to give back.
We spoke to some of the students who lead VTeam’s 3 sustainability-focused projects about their work. Click the articles below to learn more about the projects and find out how you could be a part of something amazing.
