Welcome To The Christian Union
The Christian Union (CU) is a welcoming, multi-denominational society at the University of Essex. Our aim is to give every student the opportunity to hear about and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ.
Whether you’re a Christian looking to grow in your faith or simply curious to find out more about Christianity, you’re always welcome!
Our Christian Union is supported by UCCF (Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship), a Christian organisation that supports university and college Christian Unions across the United Kingdom. UCCF helps students share the good news of Jesus and grow in their faith.
What do we do?
We believe that building friendships with other Christians is an important part of university life. Whether you’re looking to make friends, find a supportive community, or explore the Christian faith, we’d love to get to know you!
We also have connections with lots of local churches in Colchester. If you’re looking for a church to attend, we’d be more than happy to help you find one.

CU HUB
CU Hub is our main weekly gathering, and everyone is welcome!
We meet every Tuesday during term time to:
Spend time building friendships and encouraging one another
We also invite local pastors and speakers to share with us and help us grow in our understanding of the Bible.
Whether you’ve been a Christian for years, are just beginning to explore faith, or simply want to see what we’re about, come along! There’s always a warm welcome waiting for you.

When: Every Tuesday, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Where: LTB4, University of Essex

Impact Groups
Impact Groups are small groups that meet weekly to study the Bible, grow in faith, and encourage one another. They’re at the heart of CU life and help equip students to live and speak for Jesus throughout their time at university.
The idea is simple: be impacted by God’s Word so that we can impact our university for good in Jesus’ name.
Impact Groups are also a great way to make friends, get more involved in CU life, and find support as you navigate university. If you’re looking for a local church, we’d also love to help you find one!

Bible buddies
Welcome to Bible Buddies!
Bible Buddies is an opportunity to explore the Bible, ask questions, and learn more about Jesus together through Uncover Luke, a resource produced by UCCF.
Whether you are new to Christianity, curious about the Christian faith, or looking to deepen your understanding of the Bible, this is a welcoming space to explore Scripture, share thoughts, and discover more about who Jesus is.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of their background or previous experience with the Bible.
