Cultural and Social Society

The Intercontinental Nigerian Society at the University of Essex is a vibrant student community that celebrates Nigerian culture while embracing diversity from across Africa and the world. We aim to create a welcoming environment for Nigerian students and anyone interested in learning about our rich heritage. Through cultural events, educational workshops, social meetups, and career talks, we offer opportunities to connect, grow, and support one another. Our society fosters a sense of belonging, providing a “home away from home” for students while encouraging cross-cultural engagement and mutual understanding.

It is also our hope to be a bridge between the diaspora and the 'natives', never discriminating against any demographic interest.

We aim to support our society holistically and embody unity, especially amongst other societies.

Naij Society | SU Communities Election 26-27

These are your annual general elections, where members choose the students who will lead your society or sports club in the key roles of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Welfare Officer for the next academic year. Anyone elected will officially take up their role from 1st August 2026. However, if both the incoming and outgoing committee's agree, a handover can take place earlier to support a smooth transition.
