🌍 Travel Society
Your university. Your people. Your next adventure.
Welcome to Travel Society! ✈️🌍
Whether you love travelling, discovering new places, shopping, exploring, trying new activities, or simply getting out of Essex for the day, you’re welcome here!
Our main focus is trips and experiences. Throughout the year, we organise:
🚌 UK Day Trips – The day is yours! Come with your friends, come solo and make some new ones, or do a bit of both. We’ll sort the transport so you can focus on exploring, shopping, eating, taking photos and doing whatever you fancy. Just be prepared for the 7:30 am departure… because apparently the best adventures start before we’re fully awake! 😂🌅
🎢 Activity Trips – From theme parks and outdoor activities to fun days out, we’ll mix things up beyond just sightseeing.
✈️ International Trips – We’re also really focusing on organising an international trip towards the end of the year, and you’ll have a chance to help choose where we go!
✈️ Help us choose our international destination!
We’re aiming to make an international trip one of our big highlights this year, and we want you involved from the beginning. Come along to our Freshers’ Fair and first Travel Society event to meet the team, meet other members and have your say on where we should go! 🌍
🏡 Our campus is our home too!
Travel might be our main thing, but we also want to make the most of life here at Essex.
This year, we want to work with as many societies and sports clubs as possible to help promote and support campus events. Whether it’s a social, cultural event, activity or something completely different, we’re open to collaborations!
We can help with promotion, getting people involved and, where possible, provide some financial support. Our main focus will always be trips, but we believe our campus is our home, so let’s celebrate it together. ❤️
💬 Join our WhatsApp community!
This year, we have two group chats:
🌍 General Group – Open to everyone, whether you’re a member or just interested in joining us for a trip or event.
⭐ Members’ Group – For official society members, with member-specific updates, opportunities and benefits.
We know not everyone wants to commit to a society membership, and that’s completely fine! You might just want to join us for one trip. You’re still welcome in the general group.
Joining the WhatsApp community means you can:
🤝 Meet like-minded people and make new friends
📢 See what’s happening and hear about upcoming trips
💡 Get involved in choosing destinations and activities
🎉 Join socials and campus events
🚌 Stay updated with trip information
And when we're on trips, your safety matters to us. Our Travel Ambassadors help support the group, with live locations available where appropriate, and we always pin the coach meeting/pick-up location in both WhatsApp groups so you can easily find your way back if you get separated from the group.
🤝 Want to get involved?
You can join us as a member, come along to our trips and socials, suggest destinations, collaborate with us or even get involved with the committee.
