Making Friends and Fitting In

Most students coming to Uni will be worried about meeting new people, making new friends and fitting in, especially if you don't know anyone beforehand. Try to remember almost everyone is in a similar position. The great news is there are loads of different opportunities to find 'your people'. The first month is a great time to explore and try new things.

On moving in day, prop your bedroom door open – it's a great way to see who else is arriving and you can bond over the chore of unpacking!

Check out the Welcome activities run by the SU – from board games to nights out, there's something for everyone!

We run specific socials for different communities, SU Makes sessions for crafting and chilling as well as nights out.

Attend your department induction – introduce yourself to the person sitting next to you. If you're feeling anxious, there's a good chance they are too!

Get ahead of the game and join the official WhatsApp chat – you could plan ahead and organise to attend a Welcome event together.
