women's rugby

hello, we are the essex blades women's rugby club

Rugby Union is a 15-a-side game played on a 100m long pitch with 2 sets of posts and a dead-ball area at each end. The objective of the game is to cross the opposition’s try line and score a 'try' worth 5 points and then take a 'conversion' over the posts for an additional 2 points. In both attack and defence you are using means of a physical nature against your opponents, in attack trying to gain ground and in defence give them as little ground to play with. The winner is simply the team with the most points at the end of an 80-minute game.

All are welcome; whether you're an experienced player or have never played the game before. We are a friendly, sociable club that train hard and play hard. We play BUCS matches most Wednesdays as well as tournaments and friendlies throughout the year against other clubs and universities.

To be a part of the club, you need to join up as a member. All of the different club membership options are listed below with a description of what each membership covers.

To access training sessions, you will need to become a full/playing member and purchase a 2018/19 Blades Pass (£20) which will provide you with access to your training sessions. If you already have an Essex Sport Membership (either Bronze, Silver or Gold) you do not need to purchase a Blades Pass. You can purchase your Blades Pass here. If you don’t have a PIN already, click on ‘Forgotten your Pin’ and enter your student e-mail address. Here's a help guide if you need it.

* Please note that your membership information will be used in conjunction with Essex Sport (University), purely for the purpose of providing access to required facilities and data analysis. Your data will not be shared with anyone else or used for marketing purposes.
