Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

Just when you thought you'd seen the last of me

HI! I'm Jahnvi and I am currently a final year Law with Human Rights student. From my first year, the university has come very far in terms of wellbeing and mental health. However, this journey is still in its primary steps and we have a long way to go. Mental Health and Wellbeing are very important to me and I believe should be important to everyone, just as much as physical health, which is why I would like to be your next VP Welfare. I have a vision to make wellbeing accessible to everyone and for mental health to not an intangible and taboo concept. Having worked and interacted with many students over campus as a Residents' Assistant and Senior Residents' Assistant, and being mental health first aid trained, I have extensive experience with engaging with people with mental health issues and working in conjunction with the wellbeing services we have on campus. I aim to build upon the current structure and even though I am aware of the limitations that come with this, I am willing to work really hard as much as I can to provide the best for the students that call this university 'home'. I know how important it is to have a wellbeing support system and I would love to make this university's thrive.
