Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

KIT MAN KAV

We pay the university 9k a year, why should we have to pay to have a kick about? VOTE KIT MAN KAV!

There are a few issues that could be solved with the way sports is done at our uni.

Studying at univeristy level is not easy and can get preety stressful and sports is a great way to keep healthy while doing it.

We pay the university 9k a year, why should we have to pay to have a kick about?

I personally do not think "Active Campus" should exist in the way it does currently, the argument for the payment required is that essex sports "provides all the equipment" for most sports we play like football, rugby, hockey, basket ball. The equipment is not a big expense. For essex sports "Active Campus" is a profitable venture. Most basketball courts are found outside in local parks for community use, we need to have a vibe like this around our casual sport, where i come from all local facalities are allowed to be booked by any person who would like to use them for exersise, for the case of public good this is granted free of charge.

The way sports is managed is split between the SU's essex blades, the club committees and the universitys "essex sports" this sometimes leads to confusion and misunderstanding. It also creates layers between players and the people who make decisions about how play is done.

In normal clubs for any sport the exec's are heavily invested with the expreince of the members, they might be players or might be coaching the under 23s etc etc. For essex sports (who control how most of our sport is done) from a players perspective it is extremelly detached from us as players. We need to find a way to bridge the gap.
