ADHIL VENGAT for Essex Sports Representative

Hello,

I’m Adhil Vengat and I’m running for the position of Essex Sports Representative.

My experience of sport here has been hugely enjoyable and diverse having been part of the Men’s Football, Futsal and Badminton in my native . I am a beginner in sports and I know there are many like me who are interested in involving in all kinds of sports but don’t have prior experience or exposure. I am looking forward to encourage and facilitate all student to have their part in their desired sport. I believe sport is a powerful tool to create social change and to positively influence Individuals.

WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE 

• Increasing the awareness of both internal and external volunteering programs/opportunities is key to giving our students the opportunity to gain new skills and develop existing ones.
• Give the entire students body the opportunity to engage with wide range of sports and activities at all levels of ability
• Giving students the opportunity to try new sports throughout the year, rather than just during our Give It A Go weeks, through helping clubs to facilitate taster sessions throughout each semester.
• It’s great that the university wants to invest in our facilities however we need to ensure that any plans and developments going forward cater to the need of both students and clubs.
• Sourcing more funding and increasing awareness of available coaching and officiating courses is key in helping to develop our clubs and the individuals within them
• Support sports club to help generate fund raising and sponsorship.
