Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

Let's cross a river in the same boat

Hi my name is Jessie Lu, I wish to represent our Asian community for 2022/23.

Why should you vote for me?

Having grown up in China, I experienced the difficulty of language barrier and adapting to culture differences first hand.

As Asian Officer, I would make sure every Asian student feel heard and included.

  1. I aim to provide space for Asian descents to share expeiences, discuss inequality and provide support for each other.
  2. I will work with the SU to reduce Asian hate and make sure effective actions are taken.
  3. I will promote Asian culture through organising events and activities that enrich our university and make it a more welcoming and diverse expeirence for everyone.

My skillsets

  • I have stood in leadership positions such as shift manager and class president.
  • I organised art workshops and Chinese calligraphy workshop for the SU.
  • I am here as an approachable peer, a caring friend and a voice to speak up on you behalf.

So vote for Jessie Lu, as your Asian Student Community Officer.
