Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

To make our SU more accessible!

Hi! My name is Orion, I am currently finishing my first year in Liberal Arts and have been studying here for 2 years already.

The SU is a gigantic part of what makes the experience of students at this university so great. Seeing some of my friends working and truly putting all their energy into the SU inspired me to get involved and do the same! I want to make your experience at the University of Essex as good as possible, whether you are in Colchester, Southend, or Loughton, whether you are a UK national or an International student, whether you study in STEM, Social Sciences, or Humanities.

Your voice needs to be heard in the SU and I want to be that voice for you. Representation matters, and as a disabled student, i want to help making the voice of my community heard, so that every disabled student has the opportunity to see themselves represented when looking at their Student Union.

As the Students with Hidden Disabilities Representative, I want to help the SU achieve better accessibility for our community and spread awareness about hidden disabilities. Carrying out the work that previous representatives of students with disabilities, as well as the SCOs is very important, and I want to be a part of carrying out that legacy and make our Student Union feel more like home, more like ourselves.
