Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

Union Chair - all campuses

1.         To be responsible for promotion and implementation of the Equal
            Opportunities Policy of the Union.
2.         To be responsible for addressing problems and receiving complaints from
            students about equal opportunities in general and about Union Policy
            specifically.
3.         To review annually and update as necessary the Union’s Equal
            Opportunities Policy.
4.         To raise awareness and educate Essex students on issues of Equality and
            Diversity.
5.         To hold the University accountable with regard to its Equal Opportunities
            Policy.
6.         To communicate issues raised by the Liberation Officers to the Executive
            Committee.
