In this session we look at the basics of effective project management, and the key things you need to consider as a project manager from planning to completion. 

 

What will I learn?

  • What is a project eg. Types of project, when is a project successful
  • The six phases of project management and what you need to know and do at each phase to ensure your project is successful 
  • Tools to help you manage and monitor your project eg. Work Breakdown Structures, Gantt charts
  • Working with people to drive your project eg. Project Team, stakeholders
  • How to evaluate the success of your project 

 

What will I do?

This 3 hour practical session covers each of the key stages of project management. You will choose a project from our example projects to work with throughout the course of the session. Acting as the project manager for your chosen project you will immediatley put into practice every thing you learn during the session as you plan your project from start to finish. This will develop your skills and give you the confidence to manage any future projects or events you may take the lead on in the future.
