MuSoc electric guitar workshop

14/10/2017 - 14/10/2017

2pm - 4pm

Music Room B

This workshop is for beginner to intermediate guitarists, led by President Matt and the exec committee but open for all to share their knowledge. The content of the afternoon will be tailored to those who attend, but the general content will be:

  • Restringing. This section is expected to fill most of the first hour. Members are encouraged to bring their own guitars and a fresh set of strings to join in with Matt as he changes his own strings, or just watch. (If you've never bought strings before, Matt uses Ernie Ball Regular Slinky and they are suitable for most electric guitar players)
  • Tuning. It's not as simple as it sounds, learn best practices for accurate and stable tuning.
  • Amplifiers. An overview of different types and how to not mistreat them.
  • Knobs and dials. Yes you could turn everything to ten, but we'll guide you on how to get the best sounds out of your setup and find your own tone.

It's free to members, but please sign up to our Facebook event to let us know you're coming. Click here.
