Salary In line with NMW, £7.50 per hour, £7.83 for 25 and over
Working hours

Flexible, needs to be available for a couple of hours Monday-Friday with occasional weekends

and some time spent checking social media account at home

Important information We're sorry but students who are graduating 2017/ 2018 are unable to apply for these positions, this is because student staff contracts are term time only with really limited opportunities for summer work. Roles do not restart until October, so would be unsuitable for anybody completing their studies this academic year.

WHAT YOU'LL DO. 
THE DAY TO DAY.

This role is based in Promise 1’s Volunteering Team. Promise 1 helps students get an amazing degree and job. Volunteering gives our students an opportunity to learn valuable skills for their CV and give back to the local community. 

The department is focusing on creating exciting and useful volunteering opportunities for members to get involved in. We are on a mission to find volunteering opportunities for every student at Essex, and we also feel very strongly about giving students the tools to identify their employability skills. We know that volunteering can equip you with a wide range of transferable skills but we need you to help us spread the word

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of weekly newsletter
  • Looking after Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat. Ensuring active and engaging presence on all social media channels
  • Assist vTeam staff to promote vTeam projects,  Student Volunteering Week and one off projects
  • Help raise awareness of the opportunities that are available through the vTeam
  • Help improve online communication and relations
  • General clerical and admin support, including word-processing, filing Photocopying and printing
  • Perform some research duties as and when required
  • Updating databases
  • Working with IT programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Support vTeam meetings
  • Assisting with the delivery of events
  • Reporting on any issues to the Volunteering Manager
  • Working on individual projects as directed
