Pretty much everyone has tried Football and Tennis, but if you’re looking for something slightly more out of the ordinary Essex has the answer:
If you’re in to sports like Netball and Basketball then Korfball might be your new favourite thing. This sport is like a cross between the two, with two teams of 8 (4 females, 4 males) competing. Why not give it a go? You never know where it could lead.
2. Pole Dance
With more members than any other sports club at Essex, Pole Dance are a fast growing presence on campus. They run classes suitable for all abilities, so whether you’re an expert or beginner, all are welcome!
3. Ultimate Frisbee
Most people have never heard of Ultimate Frisbee...that is until they reach Essex. Ultimate Frisbee club started in 2012 and has grown more and more over the past handful of years. So try something you might not get the chance to so easily again and be part of the unique experience.
This skillful (and often romanticised) sport is the perfect way to try something totally original at university. The surge in popularity over the last 10 years has meant a strong community of Archers has grown at Essex, so get involved with Archery and be part of something amazing!
Arguably one of the most specialist sports Essex has to offer, fencing is something we can guarantee you probably haven’t tried before. As one of the oldest societies in the uni’s history they are a strongly established community always open to new members of all abilities.
