I hope you have been well.
Here I am with another update on what has been happening since the last update and what I am also currently working on now.
Lunar New Year
The amount of work that went in the last 2 weeks has been huge and big thanks to everyone involved. Without their help, Lunar New Year would not have reached the potential it is at today. And starting Thursday you will also hear more on what I mean by that. There will be plenty of sessions and experiences to enjoy and join in and actually taste and learn more about the culture.
I have worked closely with every society that wanted to be involved in organising the event, and also with the Chinese Association in Colchester, who were kind and eager to help on all aspects in order to create this year's Lunar New Year.
By now the events have all been decided, and soon enough marketing and promotion shall go out for all of you to see and share with others as well. I hope to see many of joining the sessions!
Big Plan
As part of my role, through a vote in parliament, I have now been bestowed with the amazing responsibility of also supervising the whole making of the big plan and not just a small part of it. Following this, I quickly took action and organised a meeting with all my Sabb colleagues to discuss the evolution of the big plan by now and what needs to happen in order to go forward. The sessions have been very fruitful, and we all agreed that our work with the big plan has just begun and there is much still that we can collectively work on in order to deliver. Planning on having a discussion now with the SU managers in order to keep the strong teamwork on the Big Plan, and to also update them on what we have discussed.
Forward Planning
Since last week, in partnership with the students union, we have launched a new project called Forward Planning, where we seek to strengthen our student representation and also help with the overall student experience that sadly has seen a decrease given the difficulty of this year. Still, that did not stop us from planning and actioning.
Within the big project, I am directly involved with the following:
- Connecting Students
- Cultural Representation
- Entrepreneurial Promotion and Development
- Angel Recruitment
Emails went out, communications have been established, and if by now this has not yet reached you. Stay tuned on our social media, you are about to be blown away by what we want to do! And hey, it can't happen without your involvement, so reach back to us, and let us make great things happen together!
Other Bits and work moving forward:
- Worked with the ISA in extending our reach with our cultural societies, communities, minorities, and ethnic groups.
- Creating the SU Discord and another surprise'* *Involving Discord of Course
- Further, continue the works on the Big Plan
- Develop and expand the reaches of the Forward Planning Project (a whole long year project yey)
