We’ve made the difficult decision to close the Post Office.

Like other branches and small businesses, we’ve found trade really challenging recently – foreign currency can be paid for on card, services like passports, pensions and car taxes are mostly done online now, even post has been replaced with couriers.

And for several years now, the Post Office has been costing us more to run than we are making. We have considered alternatives – other Post Offices have been able to remain open as their broadband service has performed well for example. But this is not an option for us. And it’s no longer viable for us to operate at a loss without it having an impact on the other essential services that the SU runs.

We will remain open until Wednesday 21st June to bring business to a close and it would of course be lovely to see you before then.

FAQs

1.How come other Post Offices are able to stay open?
