Are you interested in council work? Do you want to find out what it's like to work for a small local council? Are you patient and like things in order? Then apply now!
The role will comprise the scanning of Council documents and then saving them with key words in the document properties in a clear file structure with an appropriate file name. This will enable documents to be found when required in a timely manner and for paper copies to be appropriately archived, creating space in the Council Offices. It is hoped that this project will extend to the digitalisation of historic burial records to support a searchable database which will be of use to both historians and family members. This is dependent on funding for hand held scanners to ensure that the burial records are not damaged in the scanning process.
Wivenhoe Council are looking for reliable, hardworking volunteers with an interest in history and local government. Technical aptitude would be helpful, but training can be provided. The ability to use one’s initiative and the awareness for confidentiality when handling sensitive information is essential.
