Southend is home to a close-knit community and state of the art facilities, in a vibrant seaside town. You might choose to join an existing society, or start your own, and the SU Lounge is your place to go, it’s the heart of the campus within easy reach of the main campus building and library.
If you want to know more about the campus and what’s available to you, you can check out the campus guide here, which should hopefully answer a lot of your questions.
I’M LOST - HOW DO I FIND MY WAY?
Just like Colchester Campus, Southend has an interactive Find Your Way map (and app!), which is the best thing since sliced bread for a fresher trying to figure out their way around campus.
You can find out more about how to get to Southend campus and find your way around it here.
WHAT CAN I DO AROUND THE LOCAL AREA?
There’s sun and sea aplenty in Southend, but the fun doesn’t end there. There’s a theme park: Adventure Island. It has an aquarium (with Macaques and Meerkats?), and a whole host of theatres, museums and galleries. There’s also over 300 places to eat out (you’ll never go hungry here!), lots of sporting activities to get involved in (including water sports), shopping, and an award-winning nightlife, so you’ll never get bored either!
If you fancy something a bit different, grab your new flatmates or a random person in the corridor who is up for solving some puzzles and go down to Escape Live, the #1 escape room in Essex. Not only is it fun, but it’s also great for team building and for bonding with new friends.
If you are looking for something quieter, more relaxed atmosphere, Southend also has a couple of parks to kick back in.

If you are off on holiday or want to travel home for a while. Southend has its own international airport just twelve minutes away from campus by car. Check it out here.
