SU Campus update
We hope everyone is keeping well in these strange and unknown times. We're all working hard to get everything back up and running as soon as we can, whilst keeping the campus a safe environment for everyone, and wanted to give you an update as to what services are currently open on campus and online.
What SU areas are open?
SU Advice and our Education team are continuing to provide support online to all students. The Extra Store and the Kitchen have already reopened, to ensure you can get your daily essentials and caffeine fix. SU Homes and Reception are also operating online to help answer any questions you may have about accommodation or life at Essex. All of our other venues will remain closed until September at the earliest.
Why is everything not opening now?
Although the Government is easing some lockdown measures, we are following the University’s business continuity plan for COVID-19. The Uni does not expect that circumstances will allow us to move into Sustained Protection measures, which enables more elements of on-campus activity to resume, until at least Monday 7 September.
In September, we’ll review the opening of our venues and prioritise essential services to open first. We look forward to being able to welcome you all back to our venues once we’re able to do so.
*Don’t worry, Campus Cat is still being cared for and enjoying his summer, albeit without as many tummy rubs as usual. He’s very much looking forward to October, as are we!
