Essex Blades Men's Football Club

(*A £35 membership fee is required to become a part of the Essex Blades Men's Football Club. This is a one-off payment and will cover weekly training sessions, kit, equipment & transport costs. Football is one of the few Essex Blades clubs that take part in a local league competition on weekends as well as playing in BUCS on a Wednesday, meaning it costs a lot more to run than other sports clubs and requires some student funding. Please do not pay your Football Club membership until after the trials when you have been allocated a team.)

There will be a £2 fee per person to trial for the Men's Football club on Sunday 9th October 2016. This is simply to cover the costs of refreshments and facility hire. Head to the 'What's on' to book your place, or click the relevant link below:

Men’s football is one of the biggest clubs on campus and is the largest sole gender club.

Our teams train on Mondays and Thursdays and play on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Football four times a week!

We have 5 teams at Colchester which allows us to cater for a wide range of abilities, with the 1st team competing in the second tier of BUCS, a very good standard.

All of our teams compete in highly competitive BUCS leagues, 4 of them in the local Saturday leagues as well:

1st team: BUCS South Eastern 1A and Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier Division.

2nd team: BUCS South Eastern 2B and Essex & Suffolk Border League Division 1.

3rd team: BUCS South Eastern 4D and Colchester & East Essex Football League Premier Division.

4th team: BUCS South Eastern 5B.

5th team: BUCS South Eastern 7B.

However the club is not just about football, the social aspect of the club is huge and members will make a lot of new friends which will last throughout their university life. The club has a real community feel and welcomes anyone who would like to get involved in sport at university.

Club aims

Men’s football aims to cater for a wide range in ability levels and look to get every member involved in competitive matches with high quality training.

Improve on an already high performance in BUCS and in the Saturday leagues.

Sport can play a huge part in the integration to uni life for first years, so we seek to actively encourage the inclusion of Freshers, adding to the already healthy social side of the club.
