Theatre is at the heart of our society, and we aim to provide all members with opportunities across all theatre disciplines, including acting, directing, writing, production, backstage work, and much more.
Being a 14-year gold standard society, and one of the largest societies on campus, there is a place for everyone in TAS, whether you are a serious theatre fanatic, you want to develop your acting skills, or you just want to enjoy our exciting weekly workshops. Come and find your place in TAS today!
What we offer our members:
- Three Productions on the main stage at the Lakeside Theatre – our productions are our biggest and proudest staple of TAS. With one production per term, you can audition to be in the cast, or apply for backstage and crew work. Our next show is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the Pantomime!
- Weekly workshops – come and learn some new and fun acting skills and techniques or let your hair down and enjoy lots of games.
- Frequent socials – we aim to put on 2-3 socials every month, drinking and non-drinking. We also host a TAS Teams every term, our biggest social of the term, where we put you in random groups and you complete fun tasks – and there’s always a dress up theme!
- Trips off campus – we go to see lots of shows at local theatres, and also socials off campus like Go Bananas.
- A Christmas meal
- A playwriting competition – Re-Write is our annual playwriting competetion. 5 original short plays all in one night! What more could you want. The winner of the competition gets to turn their script into a full-length play and perform it the next year. Come and see last years winner SpaceEater later this academic year
- Tassies – our awards evening at the end of the year celebrating all we have achieved in the year, including awards for Best Lead, Best Supporting, Best Show, the President’s Award, and more.

TAS complements your degree with a range of events and workshops. Don't study theatre? No problem, many of our members (including some of ur Exec members!) don't either - there's a place for everyone in TAS!
We have so many opportunities and activities throughout the year, so regardless of whether you love performing, the technical side of theatre, or simply watching a show, come and find your place in TAS.
