"Fun is an illusion,
And Sci-Fan is the magician..."
All of Time and Space is at your disposal here: from the sleepy calm of the Shire to the sprawling technological Metropolis and everywhere in-between, we’ve got you covered. We host a huge variety of activities twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday, unless stated otherwise), including:
- Screenings of Sci-Fan shows, with theme nights such as UK-v-US, Original-v-Remake and Poll nights where members decide what we watch.
- Discussions, where a topic related to what we’ve recently watched will be brought up and we explore it in-depth.
- Debates, similar to discussions but with the key difference that there will be two or more opinions actively discussed to settle a question posed at the beginning of the session.
- Game nights, which can involve either board games or something like a TellTale game for us to all play together.
- Special one-off events including a trip to MCM Comic-Con in late October, a yet-to-be-announced interactive activity for the Halloween period, crafting and group quiz challenges.
- Collaborations planned with other societies to provide even more of an insight into how Sci-Fan is a part of our daily lives.
- We also encourage members to take the reins and submit ideas for events, with the possibility to co-host them if they so wish.
This is the gateway to everything that ever was, and ever shall be. Science-Fiction and Fantasy is an integral part of our lives. Even when we don't notice it, it informs how we see the world; how we dream; how we live. Our Society explores all of that and more, and has a lot of fun along the way!
