VP Welfare April Blog
Hey guys, how is it already the end of Term 2?! I blinked and now we’re somehow heading towards the finish line. Well… at least I am. Don’t worry, I’ll save the emotional ramble for another time I’ve still got a few more months to make sh*t happen I’m not clocking out just yet! This was a bit of a lighter month for me with spring graduation as well as this I had two weeks off in April.
As always, I want to keep you all updated on what I’ve been working on, so here’s the latest. But as ever feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!
Spring Graduation
I got to deliver a speech at graduation. Standing on that stage, celebrating the achievements of our University of Essex Online students who balanced studies with work, family, and life’s many responsibilities, was truly humbling. Their resilience, determination, and commitment to their goals remind us of all what’s possible when you don’t give up on yourself. To everyone who graduated you did that! You proved that learning has no boundaries- not age, location, or circumstance. Thank you for letting me share in your moment, and congratulations on everything you’ve achieved and of course, it wouldn’t be me without including some Taylor swift lyrics in there
Holi
I supported the engagement team with Holi- our festival of colours. The vibes were immaculate, the energy was joyful and it was great to see the chief of staff, deputy registrar and other members of the office of the VC come on down and get in the spirit of it and get covered in paint.

Derby Day
My last ever Derby Day and what a day it was. You best believe I was fully decked out in Blades merch and colours from head to toe and face paint. You gotta go big or go home, right?
I helped run HUB 3 this year, which meant I got to support our amazing Essex blades Pole team who were absolutely amazing you so smashed it girls! I got to join my UEA counterpart Nathan to announce match scores live on their version of the squares. Bit rogue being on enemy territory, but all love in the end, and we even got our hands on the derby day trophy…. Just for a picture though sadly not a win.
