Hello everyone, I am Flazzi your VP Community and Engagement Officer. And this is my blog for July and August.

The last couple of months have been busy as we have been getting to know each other as a team and we have also been going through a lot of training.

In July, I had first met the team. It was a completely new environment, and it took some getting used to but I’m happy where I am. I had many meetings with my departments and got involved with the SCO’s in their training. I felt like this was the best place for me to get to know them before term starts. This was helpful as I do feel comfortable around them and have been able to warm up to them as their mentor. The Students with Disabilities officer was heavily involved in the planning with the Big Plan and is the face of the working group. I also met up with the Black Officer multiple times regarding Black History Month.

In August, we had our Big Plan presentation. This was probably the most daunting experience I ever had. Having most of the University officials looking and paying attention to what we were saying was stressful but also filled me with a lot of adrenaline. Our Big Plan was a huge hit, and we got a lot of university members on board with the different projects. After the Big Plan presentation, we went to Brighton to have a conference with the Southern Sus. It was interesting as it gave a huge insight on how other SU’s are constructed and how they work on their projects. We took some insights on how we should act about the Cost-of-Living Crisis and how it could help the students and we hope that it will be put into place here at Essex and make a difference.

Thank you for reading my Blog and I’ll see you again next month!
