Week 3 saw 362 brave Essex souls battle the weather conditions as Storm Babet hit the UK.  We were fortunate that only two matches were cancelled due to the rain.

With 36 matches played (16 home and 20 away), Essex Blades came away with 20 wins, 2 draws and 14 losses. With a 65% away win rate (versus a 38% away win rate this time last year), Essex were back to winning ways, which is encouraging, given the high number of teams that are now playing in higher divisions due to promotions last season.

Highlights include: 

• Rugby Union Men’s 1^st beating Kings College 1^st 38-7 away.
• Football Women’s 2^nd beating Reading Women’s 3^rd 10-1 away.
• All 4 Basketball teams won including Men’s 2^nd beating Portsmouth 124-50 away.
• All 4 volleyball teams winning (against Surrey, UEL, Bournemouth and Cambridge).
• Tennis Men’s 1^st and Women’s 2^nd delivering Bagels (6-0) against UEL and Brighton.

• Hockey Women’s 2^nd team beating Writtle 1^st 15-0 at home.
